“The Art of Storytelling Through Comics”

Ages – 13 and up

In this five day workshop, students will learn the art of creating their own comics, from writing a script, creating a storyboarding, sketching, and inking. Students explore various illustration techniques to convey their story through drawing. Students will begin with creating a one page comic strip, moving on to a three pager with any extra time.

Materials included.

Wil Bigio (them/them) is an artist, illustrator, and graphic designer born and raised in NYC. Wil makes comics and zines, logo designs, packaging designs, posters, character designs, book covers, business cards, and more, but their happiest place is doing quick observational drawings on their commute, in cafes, and at concerts. Their pocket sketchbooks or “butt books” are the bedrock of their artistic practice and showcase their deep love and respect for the human figure and its potential for visual storytelling.

When they are not secretly drawing you, Wil can be found poring over art books, visiting museums, going on walks with friends, and watching cartoons. Wil has studied at the Art Students League of New York with Steve Walker, and has an Associates in Illustration from The Pratt Institute.
