Form & Still Life (Part 1)

Dates: Sep 19 – Oct 17

5 Sessions

A five-session studio course that builds the essential skills for realistic drawing. Students will strengthen their understanding of line, value, shape, and form while learning to create the illusion of three dimensions in graphite. The course culminates in a three-object still life drawn from direct observation.

Students should have a basic understanding of drawing simple shapes. This class is recommended for students interested in strengthening their technical drawing skills or preparing portfolios for specialized art high schools, though all motivated young artists are encouraged to enroll.

Figure & Gesture (Part 2)

Dates: Oct 24 – Nov 21

5 session

Part 2 builds on the foundational skills developed in Part 1, applying line, value, shape, and form to the study of the human figure. Students will learn gesture drawing, proportion, structure, and observational techniques to create dynamic, three-dimensional figure drawings from reference and life. Students enrolling in Part 2 should feel confident drawing three-dimensional forms and working from observation.
