Bundle Dyeing

Learn the fundamentals of natural dyeing by transforming plants into vibrant colors for textiles. In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore sustainable dye practices and create beautifully patterned fabric using the bundle dyeing technique with flowers, leaves, and roots.Ā 

All materials are provided, but participants are encouraged to bring any natural materials they want to experiment with. We recommend wearing clothing that you don’t mind getting messy.

Bio: Bianca Rose Dominguez is a Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian American interdisciplinary artist, textile educator, and healing arts practitioner based in New York City. For more than a decade, she has taught textile and fiber arts in museums, community studios, and nonprofit arts organizations, creating inclusive, hands-on learning environments for youth and adults. She received a B.A. in Visual Arts from Columbia University and is currently completing her MFA in Studio Art at Hunter College. Drawing from her background in textiles, somatic practice, and ancestral craft traditions, Bianca’s work explores diasporic memory, ecological kinship, and ritual through fiber, natural dyeing, printmaking, ceramics, and mixed media. Her teaching emphasizes experimentation, material knowledge, and the creative process, encouraging students to develop technical skills while cultivating curiosity, personal expression, and meaningful connections to craft. Her artistic and educational practice is rooted in the belief that making can serve as a powerful tool for storytelling, cultural exchange, and collective care.
