Slow Burn centers on Candles, an ongoing body of work in which beeswax becomes both surface and subject. Impermanent, tactile, and responsive to heat, wax carries the possibility of preservation and disappearance at once. Through acts of melting, layering, accumulation, and erosion, the work approaches memory as something material, unstable, and continually transformed.
The project’s ritualistic dimension emerges through repetition, touch, and the devotional associations of the candle itself. Within this edition of the Uncool Gallery Solo Show, these gestures extend across sculpture, installation, and image-based works, creating a space where intimacy, vulnerability, and transformation remain in constant tension.
