Overview: Weekly workshop series is designed to help young artists develop a personal body of work while exploring identity, storytelling, experimentation, and creative confidence. Through guided prompts, artist studies, collaborative critiques, and hands-on exploration across mediums, students will discover how their experiences, interests, memories, and curiosities can shape their artistic voice.
Rather than focusing solely on technical perfection, the program will emphasize play, risk-taking, and exploration. Students will experiment with drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, photography, writing, and installation-based thinking while gradually building a cohesive portfolio or series of works rooted in their own narrative.
Goals:
- Help students identify themes, ideas, and stories meaningful to them
- Encourage experimentation across materials and artistic approaches
- Build confidence in creative decision-making and artistic voice
- Introduce students to diverse contemporary and historical artists
- Support students in developing a cohesive portfolio or body of work
- Foster a collaborative and supportive studio environment
Workshop Structure
Each session may include:
- Creative warm-up or sketchbook prompt
- Exploration of a theme or artist
- Studio work time and experimentation
- Group reflection, critique, or peer feedback
- Portfolio development support
The program is intended to feel joyful, exploratory, and artist-centered. Ideally, it creates a space for young people to make meaningful work while discovering who they are as artists.
