Evolution of Expression traces the artistic development of Sunset Park artist Brianna Ramirez, from her high school years through her first year pursuing a BFA in Studio Art at Pratt Institute. Bringing together portfolio works, technical drawings, and paintings the exhibition offers a glimpse into the formative stages of a young artist’s practice as she learns to translate personal experience, nostalgia, and cultural heritage into visual language.
The center of this exhibition showcases the artworks in Brianna’s first portfolio, developed under the mentorship of her Sunset Park High School teachers. These early pieces reveal the foundations of her early artistic practice and the cultural influences that shape Brianna’s work. The exhibition then highlights Brianna’s transition from high school to Pratt Institute, where she expanded her technical skills and artistic confidence through the study of color, composition, figure drawing, light, and shadow.
Together, the works on view reveal both artistic and personal growth, demonstrating how education, mentorship, and lived experience contribute to the development of an emerging artist’s voice.

Lista Studios is excited to present the first solo presentation of work by Sunset Park artist, Brianna Ramirez. Brinna’s work not only showcases how technical skills are developed in a classroom, but how mentorship and personal experience shape the narratives that ultimately define an artistic lens.
